Introduction UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility. Presentation The group of Prof. Alexis Jourdain at the University of Lausanne invites applications for a postdoc position . We are a dynamic team of international researchers composed of 3 postdocs, 3 PhD students 1 master student, and 1 lab manager. The expertise present at the Department of Immunobiology and the University of Lausanne, as well as our ongoing collaborations with laboratories at the University of Geneva, CHUV and EPFL, offers an ideal place for a postdoc to thrive. The spoken language in the team and the department is English. Project: Nucleotide metabolism Nucleotide synthesis is essential for proliferating cells, and nucleotide analogs are widely used in the clinic to treat cancer, autoimmune disorders, and viral infections. However, resistance frequently emerges, highlighting the need to better understand nucleotide metabolism. This project, which builds on our recent publications on nucleotide synthesis (Strefeler et al ., Nature Metabolism, 2025) and nucleotide catabolism for energy production (Skinner et al ., Nature Metabolism, 2023), aims to elucidate the mechanisms of nucleotide metabolism at a genome scale. The candidate will use large-scale genome perturbation technologies such as CRISPR–Cas9 screening in cell culture and in tumor models in vivo to identify genes involved in nucleotide metabolism. The candidate will then characterize the functions of these genes in detail using metabolomics and biochemical approaches, and will evaluate their relevance to resistance to nucleotide-analog therapies. Further information can be found at: www.jourdainlab.org Job information Expected start date in position : spring 2026 (flexible) Contract length : 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years Activity rate : 100% Workplace : Biopôle, Epalinges (Lausanne area) Your responsibilities In your activities, you will have to: Lead independent research project(s) Supervise Master students Contribute to collaborative team projects Your qualifications In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills : At least one original 1st author manuscript published or close to publication (incl. in BioRxiv) Extensive experience and ability to carry cell culture experiments at a large scale is a must Self-motivation, enthusiasm for science, determination are also a must Interest in metabolism and large datasets analysis High communication skills for teamwork Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, e.g. systems genetics, biochemistry, metabolism, cancer Strong spoken and written competency in English (French is not necessary) Are a strong plus: Eligibility for postdoctoral fellowships (e.g. EMBO or similar) What the position offers you We offer a nice working place in a multicultural, diverse and dynamic academic environment. Introduction UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility. Presentation The Molecular Biogeochemistry group at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Redox Biogeochemistry with a focus on coastal marsh ecosystems. Job information Expected start date in position : 01.04.2026, or upon mutual agreement Contract length : 2 years, extension contingent on funding and performance Activity rate : 100% Workplace : Lausanne Mouline (Geopolis building) Your responsibilities The candidates will join the Molecular Biogeochemistry group studying the interactions of minerals, microbes, and organic matter in the face of climate change. The successful candidate will perform research on rhizophere biogeochemistry within salt marsh soils threatened by sea level rise. Specifically, this project aims to determine how oscillatory drivers (tidal oscillations and diel cycles) influence carbon processing and storage in the rhizosphere of salt marsh wetlands. A particular focus is the investigation of the tight coupling of oxygen, iron and sulfur cycling on carbon processing in the rhizosphere. This work will include growth chamber- and field-based experiments. The candidate will employ cutting-edge chemical and biological analyses, including microsensors, metabolomics, and spectroscopy. Results from this project will advance our understanding of carbon storage within coastal march ecosystems and inform predictions of the vulnerability of this vast carbon reservoir to sea level rise. This project is part of a highly interdisciplinary Simons Foundation-funded research consortium exploring the hydro-biogeochemical functioning of coastal marsh ecosystems (“Ecosystem on the Edge: How Coastal Marsh Plants and Microbes Thrive in an Oscillating Environment” ). The candidate will directly collaborate with international exports in hydrology, plant science, ecology, and microbiology within this research consortium. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively within this research consortium as well as another PhD student in the Soil Biogeochemistry group at UNIL.The employment conditions are available HERE Your qualifications To expand our Soil Biogeochemistry group, we are looking for someone with the following background: Successfull candidates will have an excellent PhD in soil biogeochemistry, environmental microbiology, environmental (geo)chemistry, or related field. Excellent knowledge of biogeochemical processes within soils, particularly redox-driven microbially-catalyzed C and metal dynamics, is a requirement. Familiarity with basic concepts of coastal marshes and rhizosphere is an advantage. Experience with basic geochemical and microbial lab procedures and analyses, and data analysis is required. In particular, experience with plant-based experiments, electrochemical sensors, or -omics analyses is an advantage. Commitment to conducting research on soil biogeochemical processes regulating carbon fate in coastal marsh systems. Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in a multicultural team and institute. Excellent skills in written and oral English are required. Working knowledge of French is preferable but not necessary. What the position offers you We offer a nice working place in a multicultural, diverse and dynamic academic environment. Introduction UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility. Presentation The group of Prof. Johanna Joyce at the University of Lausanne invites applications for two postdoc positions. The Joyce lab investigates the microenvironment in which a tumor arises and the critical influence that non-cancerous immune and stromal cells can have on tumor progression. We have uncovered regulatory signals provided by the normal tissue stroma and immune cells to the cancer cells, and determined how normal cells can be modified by the cancer cells to produce a variety of factors that enhance tumor malignancy. Our group is also actively exploring the mechanisms underlying the contribution of the tumor microenvironment to therapeutic resistance. Our ultimate goal is to apply this collective knowledge to the clinic and develop targeted therapies that disrupt critical tumor-stromal interactions. We currently have two open postdoc positions, and are specifically looking for candidates with experience in tumor microenvironment and metastasis research.
