• Review and benchmark existing pipelines to process RGB, multispectral, and thermal images collected with UAVs and timelapse cameras
• Develop and deploy phenotyping methods to improve the evaluation of varieties in the field
• Set-up an effective system to share image processing pipelines among a distributed team as well as develop protocols, training materials, Jupyter notebooks, and tutorials that allow the use of these pipelines by other team members
• Publish the outcomes of your research in high impact peer-reviewed journals and write reports
• Support students and technicians in the analysis of existing repositories of phenotyping images and data

This makes you unique

• PhD in agronomy, crop science, plant breeding with good knowledge of image processing methods.
• Results-oriented and self-motivated person with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on larger projects
• Advanced skills in: R programming, image processing, and management and analysis of extensive datasets
• Demonstrated experience writing manuscripts and programming by means of authored peer reviewed publications and Git repositories, respectively
• Excellent writing skills in English
• Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and English

In a nutshell

Agroscope is seeking a postdoctoral research associate who can help develop and implement solutions for evaluating the performance of genotypes of field crops. We investigate new phenotyping methods based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, time-lapse cameras and portable and stationary sensors.
