Project: Genomic data analysis in support of product development 

 

Complete an internship project at SOPHiA GENETICS whose mission is to build the future of AI-assisted medicine. Joining the Data Science team as a Junior Bioinformatician. 

 

Your mission: 

Reporting to the Director of Genomic Research, you will employ your biomedical data analysis skills to support development of products employing cutting-edge technology in genomics. 

You will be involved in: 

• Independently carrying out analyses of genomic data and providing reports, allowing to facilitate the development of top performing products 

• Supporting the research activities of the team, by carrying literature research on the latest developments in the field of genomic data analysis, in order to build a knowledge base allowing to build top notch products meeting the needs of diagnostic and clinical communities 

• Technical problem solving, where your curiosity and skill will contribute to finding solutions for detection of challenging genomic alterations efficiently and reliably 

• Cross-functional team meetings allowing you to enhance your understanding of the company and the genomics product market, that will help to gain context on your work and enhance your effectiveness 

What you will learn: 

• Process of product design and development in biomedical environment from the early research and conceptualization phase 

• Work and communication in a cross-functional team 

• Documentation related to product development  

Requirements

• Master degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Human Genetics or related fields
• Good familiarity with next generation sequencing 

• Some experience in genomic data analysis (DNAseq, RNAseq, targeted sequencing etc.) and basic data file formats (fastq, bam, cram, vcf etc.) 

• Knowledge of python and/or R required (other languages a plus) 
• English full proficiency
