About H-55 As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55, is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable. The company’s strengths and competencies lie in developing propulsion and energy storage solutions which are modular, lightweight, and certifiable. Having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. This recent announcement is a further illustration of H55’s position as a major enabler in the electric commuter market. About the role In the frame of its product development (Energy Storage System), H55 is hiring an Electronics Hardware Engineer. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the Electronic Circuit Board (ECBA) Design, development and verification (V&V), with a focus on Energy Flow Counter (EFC) which is part of the Battery Management System (BMS). You will be part of Part-21J Design Organization (DO). Specifically, you will be responsible to: Write the board Requirement Specification (V&V) Create board schematics (PCB) with : Input protections and EMI / ESD filtering, Mixed analog input/output interfaces (High/Low Voltage, current, temperature, measurements, ...), Digital interfaces (ICD...) Communication Buses (CAN, RS485, RS232), Microcontroller (MCU,...), Write Design documentation: Design Description, Design calculations and analysis ... Perform board layout (components placement, Schematics (SCH), Drawings (DWG) and routing), Write Verification & Validation test procedures (QTP, VTP,...), Debug, Derisk, troubleshoot and integrate the board, Execute the formal tests and document them in a test report, Define the acceptance test procedure (ATP;...), Support the development of test benches, Maintain detailed and meticulous documentation throughout the entire process, Manage all data under your responsibility according to our DO-254 development methodologies and configuration management rules. Your Profile Bachelor or Master’s degree in electronics engineering, preferably with CFC degree realized before 3-5 years of experience in the development of high reliability and/or safety-critical hardware (industrial, automotive, medical and/or aerospace), Pro-active & team player attitude are a key to the success Good knowledge of: Mixed analog/digital circuit, power supply (DC/DC), protection and filtering, Electronics Circuit calculations (tolerance/error analysis), Circuit simulation (Simetrix or other Spice equivalent), Proficiency in Schematics entry and circuit board layout (Altium Designer or another analogical tool), Good knowledge of PCB IPC standards, EMI/EMC basic knowledge. Aerospace/Aviation process & standard knowledge is a plus (Under EASA/FAA CS-23), Notions in Thermal Engineering (cooling) and Mechanical Engineering (enclosure) is a plus, Matlab & Altium use is a plus, Experience of environmental testing (temperature, vibration, EMI/EMC, DO-160) and aviation development assurance standards (DO-254) is a plus, Fast learner, rigorous, with analytic problem-solving capabilities and ability to properly document, Well organized, capacity to prioritize, Fluency in English, French is a strong asset. About the role As the Electrical Propulsion Unit (EPU) System Engineer, you will be responsible for the system definition from design to entry in service. You will be part of the Part-21J Design Organization (DO) and its Item & System team. Your main responsibilities will include: Definition/update of the system architecture, requirements and interfaces according to the upper level requirements (including certification and safety requirements) Provide verification and compliance demonstration evidences (analysis, test procedures, ground and/or flight test procedures, ...) Support aircraft level integration activities including redaction of manuals Creation / amending the engineering content of deliverables (all development related documentation such as reports, analysis, test procedures, etc.) during development activities and compliance demonstration (Under EASA, FAA,...) Ensure that the overall Electrical Propulsion System meets the specified safety and certification compliance requirements. Perform Analysis of the Electrical Network of new electric propulsion systems Perform bench, ground and flight tests of new electric propulsion systems Basic knowledge on Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) Your Profile: University degree (min. bachelor) in a relevant engineering discipline (System engineering, Aerospace engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems). Demonstrated experience and expertise typically 5+ years with Aicraft Systems, Electrical Networks and/or Power Electronics. Good understanding of aviation standards (SAE ARP, DO-160, DO-178, MIL, ISO, ...) in the field of activity. Equivalent standards in other industries also considered (e.g. Automotive, Railway, Medical) Basic understanding of EASA Part 21, EASA Certification Specifications and certification principles would be an advantage (MDL, TC, SB ...) Familiarity with electronic communication protocols would be an advantage (ICD's, RS485, RS232,...). Familiarity with safety in aerospace (MTBF, MTTR, SSA; FMEA,...) EMI/EMC basic knowledge is a plus Demonstrated ability to follow through and bring projects to its completion. Target-oriented, with analytic problem-solving capabilities Well organized including the ability to properly document Capacity to prioritize, manage time effectively and multi-task Good communication skills Fluency in English (oral and written), French an asset. Your Role As part of our Engineering team, we are looking to hire a Chief Engineer, reporting to the Head of Design Organistion (HDO) . The Chief Engineer’s perimeter is covering system to parts (up to electronic board or software) and has the following tasks and responsibilities: Responsible to deliver the overall solution for a system or sub-system; on time, cost and quality. Responsible for the overall architecture, including the management all product trades and new technology introduction. Responsible to ensure the design to meet all requirements. Responsible for the certification, qualification and testing strategy. Responsible for product change management. First technical point of contact for the program manager, management and the customer throughout the life of the product. Chair and facilitator of milestone reviews. You are supported by the team leaders in the creation and maintenance of schedules. Approve configured baseline for production (system shipset). Your experience University degree (Master’s Degree) in a relevant engineering discipline (System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems). Thorough knowledge of the involved engineering disciplines. Demonstrated experience and expertise in the aviation sector typically 5+ years, bringing projects to successful completion. Technical / engineering experience in aviation/aerospace with direct client management/engagement. Broad knowledge of other engineering disciplines, HW/SW development, mechanical engineering to assess/coordinate the product development cycle on a high level. Good understanding of certification and production methods and standards in aviation. Management skills, resources and budget. Strong understanding of the company’s key competitive strengths - technology, pricing, manufacturing capabilities, plans to scale, etc. - and being able to use these qualifications for identifying, engaging and increasing the company’s customer base.
