In this function, you will be a scientific expert in the field (70-80% field time) with a specific focus on engaging in high-level scientific exchange, on building and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with external experts, and on understanding and uncovering unmet medical needs and generating relevant insights. Next to that, you help the cross-functional team that is active in the Therapeutic Area of Hematology to ensure that they optimally contribute to their specific task. Your main tasks Work in a cross-functional brand team as a medical-scientific expert in the therapeutic area Help develop the medical product strategy and its implementation within the framework of the brand plan, based on, amongst others, the customer insights you gather in the field Build and maintain peer-level relationships with key external experts (70-80% field time) to support understanding of the Swiss market & clinical dynamics and to engage with the medical/scientific community in a highly credible, balanced, and objective manner, representing AstraZeneca’s dedication to and excellence in science Development of solid Field Engagement Plans and x-functional Account Management plans Work closely with Regulatory, Market Access, Marketing, and other functions on field-related medical issues and help support the oncology compounds during the entire lifecycle. Support local, regional, and global AstraZeneca clinical research program and externally sponsored research projects Help create meaningfu,l real-world evidence data generation projects in collaboration with the brand team across the lifecycle of the brands in your therapeutic areas Provide medical-scientific input on our sales promotion and other activities, including their implementation and potentially the material used Help set up and provide medical-scientific training and further education in your therapeutic area for the sales force and other AZ personnel Organization and execution of scientific events such as symposia, other educational initiatives for healthcare professionals Organization of and participation in (regional) advisory board meetings Build and maintain expertise in your therapeutic area by continuous education and by participation in national and international congresses and AstraZeneca events Support of the Medical Governance-Team (Medical Information / Patient Safety) in handling of external medical and scientific requests Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and AstraZeneca Local and Global Policies and Guidelines Your Profile University degree in a health-related scientific field, such as an MD or a PhD Good understanding of the execution of field medical affairs plans, previous knowledge in hematology and oncology is a strong plus Professional experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably as MSL or within Medical Affairs in one of the therapeutic areas mentioned above; experience within Clinical research will also be considered Thorough knowledge of the local regulatory and market access requirements related to medical affairs activities. What you’ll do Manages direct reports in the specified part of a Therapy Area such as Medical Advisors, Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Project Manager and Diagnostics Managers and ensuring that activities are integrated and coordinated. Develops and maintains high-value added relationships with scientific experts, societies and other important decision makers in the specified part of a Therapy Area. Develops and maintains effective internal relationships with colleagues in the local, regional and global teams. Manages a team that ensures all brand materials for a specified part of a Therapy Area are kept up to date and accurate Develops a development plan for the cross-functional teams ensuring scientific knowledge is up-to-date. Ensure and monitor compliance by team members and third parties by (a) positively reinforce all relevant AstraZeneca codes, policies and standards, (b) ensuring completion of all required training, (c) fostering a culture of openness in which employees are comfortable raising questions or concerns, and (d) immediately addressing and reporting, as appropriate, instances of non-compliance. Essential for the role PhD or Master's degree in (Bio)Medical Science, preferably MD or medically trained professional + 5 years leadership experience, managing diverse teams. German and English are essential for the role, French would be an advantage. Minimum 2 years experience in Swiss Healthcare environment. Thorough knowledge or experience of the pharmaceutical industry and the area of Medical Affairs. Knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmaceutical industry.
